Our pastor once shared with us the importance for a family to have their meals together at the table. It is a time where we share what happened in our day or simply just discussing about the breaking news or sharing a simple laugh. Sounds simple enough, but we really do not do that often enough. Ask my mum, and she will tell you the frustration she had (and probably still have) to have everyone sit at the dining table for a meal together. It is made harder by the different schedules we have and the long hours we work. And when we finally do sit down at the table, we will be multitasking.. either watching the TV or being on our phones.
That was something we set out to change in the US. We have our dinner at about 545pm, when mummy calls, everyone (just 4 of us) gathers at the table (including Natalie). We thank God for the food, thank mummy for preparing the food before we dig in. We talk about everything under the sun. Nathaniel will be sharing about his school (or toy), Natalie will be screaming for water or another spoon full, and Yvonne and myself will be sharing a laugh amidst the whole din.
We really love the fellowship and long may it last (hopefully even after we return home to SGP).
