With my parents here, I’ve given up the kitchen to them. It’s indeed a blessing to have meals cooked for you. And I can even “order”! So my Instagram feed has been full of food pictures!
After our round 1 reunion dinner, we had round 2 with my cousin Swing who happened to be in the area doing a Cal-trip with her partner.
It was funny as we hosted Swing while her mum hosted babysis in SG for reunion dinner. Love the extended family for “adopting” babysis for all the family feasting. This is what family (and CNY) is about.
We all headed to Napa together for the weekend and it was so surreal to be in Napa with my parents and sister and cousin Swing. I mean, who would have thought this was possible?
While they enjoyed the wine tour at Mumm Napa, we headed to check out the Riverfront (which totally reminds me of Robertson Quay!), and to test out the Nat’s new ride.

I know, what took us so long to get the double stroller!? Now, if only Min will stay in there long enough!
It was a very chill weekend for us, revisiting places we liked from our last trip – Bistro Jeanty, Kara’s cupcakes and Bouchon Bakery and letting the children have a run at V Marketplace in Yountville. However, it was a very different scene now in Winter with bare trees!
It has been a wonderful and different CNY for us and I enjoyed everyone’s FB/twitter/Instagram updates on their CNY – the food and the clothes. Hah. I can’t help but want to dress my lil gal up too and was blessed with Missymessy’s cheongsam dress!
Onto photos of the week!
Feb 4 – Hope :: Adding chia seeds to my yoghurt brekkie. Hoping for a more healthy start to the day (without sweating it out. hehe)
Feb 5 – Something you smell today :: My mum’s cooking! The smell of soy sauce chicken greeted me when I return from picking Nat from school.
Ahh…that familiar smell.
Feb 6 – Soft :: Failed attempt to pipe a heart shape on the choc cupcake. Sigh, colour and shape looks like turd.
Feb 7 – your name :: Name labels for Min!
Feb 8 – Something orange :: Ironically, I have more CNY snacks here than if I were in SG.
Or ever did, back in SG.
And Feb 8 marks our 11th month here..almost a year!
Feb 9 – Guilty pleasure :: 2 Kara’s choc cupcakes after dinner.
Choc-anything is my weakness.
Feb 10 – 3 o’clock :: 3 hrs later, we are on the road, on our way home. With “Cat in the Hat” and “Blue’s Clues” on repeat mode. Now that I’m seated behind, I finally can watch the shows. Hah.
Actually, at 3pm, we were having our late lunch of SG-fare after a quick outlet shopping stop. Yes, after 2-3 meals of Western meals, my parents (and us too la) want Asian food!
