It’s really been awhile.
The radio silence here is due to me doing a “What to expect when expecting” rerun and lethargy got the better of me.
That and the missing appetite just threw me off doing anything else but a need to lie down in bed and snooze after work. And it doesnt matter what time I sleep or how long I slept, I still end up not wanting to wake up or still feeling tired in the morning. Alot of energy is needed to grow my baby…
Yeap, I’m pregger. Almost at the end of the first tri and as I speak, I think I can feel my appetite coming back.
Which is good news. Seeing that we are off to Bali this evening with Eye_deas and bw!
When we booked this trip months back, we wouldn’t have known that it was going to become our babymoon.
I’m determined to enjoy the short trip, have fun, not think about work and come back hopefully more refreshed and energetic to take on the world and what August has in store for me (all the work deadlines!).

Things one do(or buy) when one is stressed (at work), needed retail therapy, but on a budget and have no time to hit the shops.
Online’s the way, and little stuff to accessorise office-thingamajings.

It’s increasingly hard to get into work mode on Monday morning (say only la, once I step into office, it’s full-on work and juggling to-do lists!) when we spend 2 full days with Nat, having fun together. And he knows it too – weekend is mummy and daddy time! He never ever sleeps during the weekend, preferring to play play play with us.
The weekend that passed, we did a few things which typically weren’t in our programme.
We started the weekend with a beach boys & a girl date at Sentosa. The tots had fun with the sand and at the waterplay area. Well, I never thought I would let my son play in a public water area (the logistics of cleaning up and all deters me)..but oh well, being a parent changes things. I even went in as well. Heh.
Then, tehpeng and I attended the High Scorers concert , in support of our church friend who was performing the flute. I was wowed by the young talented ones on their musical instruments, playing their exam pieces. Again, I felt the pang of not being able to play any musical instrument. I suppose we must let Nat start young on this musical journey.
On Sunday, we went to the National Museum, for the Mummy exhibition.

Thankfully, there’s 50% off with Mastercard payment.
The exhibit area was kinda dark but that didn’t stop Nat from exploring on his own (such a big boy!). Here he is, posing for mummy (me) with the ‘mummy’.
It was a good weekend and it didn’t involve any retail-element. Part of my ‘bring nat out, try to avoid shopping centre’ plan which I just hatched up. Heh heh.

Nat came to work with me on Christmas eve. While I was trying to tie up some work-stuff, he was duly occupied.
He watched Cars for the nth time (my colleague brought the dvd to entertain him and was instantly Nat’s good friend!). He played with Lego bricks.
He even drew up plans for the department…Well, he did meet my big big boss who promptly ‘recruited’ him as the newest & youngest member of the team..Haha. No problem, mam, just deposit his pay into my bank account please. Thank you.

And he also checked out new apps on my colleague’s iphone (who was amazed at how quickly he picked up the game-play). Yes, anyone with an iphone will be an instant hit with my son now.

He must be thinking “It’s so fun at work, no wonder mummy goes everyday!”.
If only, baby. If only.

This was my desk, when I came back to office after a 2-week course. Many “presents” to unwrap.
It is also my last day at mothership before I’m launched out into outerspace to do my (first) orbit.
Gotta love my team. I will miss them!

The event is finally over and 2 weeks after, I feel I am almost back to normal.
I’ve slept in an attempt to pay back the sleep-debt (though it’s just paying back the interest now), I’ve trimmed my hair (super long overdue!), went for my (very much needed!) massage, slowly getting back to my online persona (with shopping as well) and most importantly, spending time with family at home. Though I’m still very much a recluse in terms of meeting friends.
Yes, life is almost normal for me. Till my next posting (work not blog), that is. For now, I’m savouring the last few moments of transition (not much work, just matters pertaining to knowledge management, aka filing!) at work.
Admittedly, being very involved in work means there isn’t much left of me to give to family. Real kudos to women who can give to both work and family. it’s really hard! So, I’m also taking this time to catch up on those lost moments with Nat.
I was really missing out on his developments with my early-start and end-late days. It seemed as if my boy grew much in my ‘absence’, especially in the speech arena. He’s talking alot more, by which I mean singular-words for now. But I’ll gladly take it as it is and rejoice and give thanks. It gives me and tehpeng much joy to hear him speak, words like “there!”, “this!”…and his longest sentence to date is “Go where?”. Hahah. Speak good English is not the movement for the moment, but that’s going to be a long-drawn battle anyway, so rejoice with me, people!
My son speaketh!
Not only is he speaking more, he’s also a tad more active. Just like today, we brought him to Polliwogs and after the initial ‘cold feet’, he quickly warmed up and and was just going, going, going! And even attempting to *gasp*, lunge himself into the ball pit.
Mummy snooze :: Did you enjoy yourself today?
Nat :: Yessssss
And that was another word for the day.

Hello. This is me.
The past few weeks have felt as if I was on a fast-speed train. The minutes just fly past while at work. I’m thankful for a few dinner-gatherings (and even a durian gathering!) which kept me away from work for a bit.
I’m thankful for the opportunity to be involved in this project (despite the madness and the sheer amount of work involved).
I’m also thankful for a some happyhour playtime with Nat… I really treasure the quiet moment as I lie down next to him for bedtime. Him signalling me to pat him. Him wanting to rest his leg against me or on me. Waiting for him to fall asleep before I pull myself away from him (and the bed!) and hit work again, before my brain shutdown on me.
Amidst this madness, my boy is turning 2 this Sunday. But it is also day 1 of the event. I’m no superwoman and I can’t pull a birthday party AND manage my work at the same time (kudos to those who can!). So small family dinners it is this year. (and even that, I had no capacity to think about till the very last minute!) 1 of the dinners happened on Sunday, to celebrate my dad’s birthday as well.
When your birthday falls around the same time as your grandson, your birthday cake will always be themed.
It’s not as fun as birthday parties but there was a cake (yes, I succumbed and got him a Thomas-themed cake. Though I wished I had more time to order a more fanciful one!)! And never mind he couldn’t partake in the seafood dinner, he was happy just having us around. Heehee.
Blessed Birthday my son. I can’t believe you are turning 2 already.
Where is my baby?
And 2 years of mummydom. Thank you Lord, for blessing us tremendously with this boy who has brought so much joy to our family.
