This Blessed Life

Me and him

In 2006 when I was last in HK (it’s been too long ago!), I took a “picture with him”….

4 years later, I got to ‘hold his hand’!!!!!

Hahaha, cheap thrill, I know. His ’star’ was the most popular ok. There’s always a crowd!

  • Things we do now…

Last Thursday, we did a couple of things which ironically we should have done but didn’t when we were younger.

1 :: The herbal dinner which tehpeng had wanted to bring me to, when I was pregger. Almost 2 years later, it’s better late than never, I say.

As I proclaimed :: I’m incubating your future child! ;)

2 :: A moonlight walk at Fort Canning.

Well, it was an uphill trudge for us as we tried to figure out how to get to…

3 :: The outdoor concert that was F1 Rocks.

By the time we figured it out after walking one whole big round (what a workout!), our moods were quite on the low-side and we had to sit at a corner to recuperate (while A*mei was performing).

And we were accosted by a young chap wanting us to do a feedback survey on the concert. Well, bad timing, so our ratings weren’t exactly high-flying.

    All these for Jacky Cheung

Well, let’s just say, he is definitely better enjoyed indoor, in air-con comfort and better sound system.

The beginning of the Reds weekend

    Beautiful sky colours huh?

Not that I think anyone at the stadium noticed…as they are all watching the Reds.

Yes, this was taken at the training session just this evening. Thanks to @skygoon, we were able to get in.

The encounter started even before we reached the stadium. As we were at the traffic light waiting to turn into Nicoll Highway (and the stadium area), we saw 2 buses turning in front of us and IT WAS THE TEAM BUS!! That got me really excited. We spotted Torres!

Yes, I don’t watch soccer but I’m a teenybopper at heart when it comes to 明星.

Then as we turned into the carpark, we realised we were actually at the entrance which the bus will use. Of course, we waited for the bus.

    We were just in time!

Tehpeng took quite a few shots during the training session but I guess this video is our closest encounter with the team.

Oh yes, tehpeng took a photo with Steve McMahon too. This is really the start of his birthday weekend.

    A night of hopping

When we arrived, we realised Indoor was about 70% decked in red. Hmmm, there must be a dress code which I didn’t know of!

Well, I was in salmon pink, close enough ;)

Admittedly, I was both skeptical and tickled about the concert. I was no longer the teenybopper and I’ve really lost touch with Cantopop. But as the lights dimmed and the trio came on-stage in their extravagant costumes and flamboyant teasing with the crowd and of course, belting out their hits, both the dance hits and the ballads, I found myself singing along & screaming together with everyone else. Haha. Yes I did.

I like the whole arrangement of the concert, the medley of their songs and especially the tribute segment to Anita Mui & Leslie Cheung. Wah, I really grew up with their songs!

They turned Indoor into Sparks for the night. As with all their concerts (the last being in ‘94, I think?), they managed to get almost everyone on their feet. Even a pregnant fan was standing & swaying along lor.

They still have it in them. Apparently, next year is their 25th year in showbiz & they will have a concert too.

lilsnooze :: Let’s catch them in HK!!

  • Still hopping on

It’s been ages since I last went for a concert.

Back in those days, buying tickets mean Q-ing at SISTIC counters. But now, you can get those tickets online. But I’m being charged a booking fee AND a collection fee even if I self-collect at their counters. And I still have to wait in line for collection. Hmmmmph?

I finally got tickets to the 草蜢 concert. And dragging tehpeng along with me. Yes yes, I’m a cantopop teenybopper, I confess.

It was a toss up between them & Aaron (and his 450 deg rotating stage and baring of his upper body).

    But I figured, 3 dancing (old)men vs 1.

    Hmm…this one more worth la.

  • The news hit me

It was the day of breaking news – my company’s results announcement. No surprises there.

But what got my attention more was – the news of my Andy Lau getting married!

My mum told me in the morning. Even XY texted me about it.

So I did my usual googlenews and clicked on the various news sources.

Check out this man wanting to go for plastic surgery to look like Andy Lau!

    Like, seriously!?

Anyway, it doesn’t matter to me if he gets married, it won’t change my “fixation”.

    He is still good-looking what!

  • Watch the music

You’ve got to watch this clip from Britain’s got Talent 2008. He is awesome and this is what talent shows should be like – ordinary people with talents.

Very unlike what we have here, case in point – SuperB@nd 2008.

Anyway, watching it made me tear. I mean, this clip. The local version would have me tearing something out.

Hiyah, maybe cos mummy already and I can empathise if my boy is being bullied at school?

AND I WAS VERY EXCITED TO GET AN EMAIL FROM SK ABOUT ANDY LAU CONCERT!

I must have blogged about my shallow obsession too many a times. And I am so not ashamed about this. Heehee. Thanks SK! :)

I would have clicked 2 tickets immediately (and subject tehpeng to 2 hours of Andy “live”. Huh huh huh!) BUT we might be planning a Melbourne trip around the same time.

    ARGH!

  • My Strength comes from Him

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. ~ John 14:12

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.Honour your father and mother— which is the first commandment with a promise— that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. ~ Ephesians 6:1-4
