This Blessed Life

Of jelly and leather

I knew I was out of touch when I saw a few ladies wearing them fitflops and as I pointed them out to tehpeng, he said ‘oh, this was what lish updated about on her facebook status”.

So I went in search of them with Dada and found that fitflops didn’t quite fit my feet. Or my toes.

I’ve always had a problem looking for chic flipflops. I have no issue with Old Navy or Havianas types, but if only they come with more bling!

So I had some fun poking around, trying on blingy sandals. It must be a sign of age-ing!

Finally settled on a blingy pair and went merrily on the usual round to smell the leather. Was quite taken by the new Miumiu(in blue!), which looks really similar to the PS1. According to the sales lady, the bag is sturdy enough for laptop and document. Hmmm….

Then my toes found comfort in this pair of jellyshoes. As much a cynic as I am about jello-shoes, they are really comfy. And I was looking at the yellow pair. Nothing short of making a statement with a bright colour (other than bling!).

Certainly, it is a sign of age-ing. Or otherwise known as a maturing of taste.

(Finally something non-nat on my blog.)

  • Buy this

My dad has always been the family’s courier-shopper of sorts, since he’s frequently overseas. So when he’s home-bound, there’s bound to be a flurry of emails to him (from me and babysis).

He was last in Paris in Dec and of course, we sent him a user-friendly version of our wishlist (complete with images and price range). And he really did shop for us. Nevermind, if what he bought was not in our wishlist. Hahaha.

So, our Paris loot is homebound next week. And apparently, my dad was having issues with packing my shoes, and my mum reminded him that I want the shoebox intact. Aka, the shoes got to come back with the box! Gotta love my folks for indulging my whims. ;)

Of course, grandson nat gets special attention. He was asked what he wants and he told my dad over the phone :: “Buy Car”. And when my dad asked “what car?”, he goes “Chick!” (Which is the only name he can say, from the 3 cars).

That got my dad confused since I don’t think he’s watched Cars before (nvm, when he’s back next week, he will get to watch the movie!).

So my mum very helpfully told him this: “If you see a Green car, with eyes and number 86 on it, buy”.

Really wonder what my dad will bring home this time…

  • Off he goes

And so I sent tehpeng off to Amsterdam for a work conference, with a cuppa of tehpeng at T3. It’s only a short trip of 5 days and I think this is the first away-from-us trip he’s taken since Nat’s birth.

Well, I’ve told Nat that papa will be away for 5 days – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – to which he nodded and went right back to making sure his trains run along well (he really takes his ‘controller’ role seriously..haha). We’ll see how it goes. I know tehpeng will miss him loads.

It’s his first time away from him after all.

As for me, well, I will too but you know, we are not young lovers la, so I tell him to just email or sms me updates. And we’ll try to catch each other online, despite the 7-hour difference.

lilsnooze :: but you can call me anytime, if its about shoes or bags ok!!!

I’ve very helpfully listed down the shopping street and he’s google-earthed it. Heehee.

  • Down they go!

    Nat did it again!

This time, my slippers. And 2 of them – the right sides of my Old Navy AND Havianas!

    lilsnooze :: Baby, where’s mummy’s slippers?

Nat :: There! *points at what I’m wearing*

Till now he has not “confessed”, just giving blur sheepish looks…

I think “Thank God not my Fei Lak Gai Mou!”

Better not leave shoes I want lying around anymore. Now onto getting replacements…

  • The shoe fairy says…

    Dress up & go out!

I think the GSS is better this year, the retailers are really trying to get to our wallets this year. At 50% off and in my size as last pair, I had to get them.

And it’s at a better price than online (which is fast becoming my benchmark these days).

  • Fx(sort)

You know you’ve shopped online too often when you stare at shoes and bags on display and you wish you can click “Sort by”.

lilsnooze :: What colours do you have for size 5 in this style?

Sales lady :: What colour do you want?

lilsnooze :: Erm…I’ll choose from the colours you have in my size…

Less you think Im a diffcult customer, it was a sale and there aren’t many shoes in my size left.

tehpeng :: What other bags do you have that are 55% off?

Sales lady :: Erm…the bags are all over.

He decided to ask when I was picking up every bag wanting to find one that was a good deal and I don’t quite mind. I mean, it’s 55% off!

  • What matters

It was a 4-days-away-from-it-all kind of trip up to Seremban. We had no online connection and nothing to distract us, not even cable. We armed ourselves with reading materials (tehpeng bought 8days for me, cos he knows I like to read up on Star Awards gossip.Heh), DS Lite & PSP (everyone found their inner baking mama & Nat can play Cooking Mama – Chop, slice & stir!) & Gossip Girl season 2 (which I only managed 15 minutes of epi 1). We had the little ones to keep us occupied this time round!

And of course, there’s shopping! After a very memorable shopping day the last trip up, I wanted to explore 1-Utama again. Tehpeng researched the map and configured the GPS the night before and it was a smooth 1-hr drive.

Tehpeng:: Well, if we managed the drive to Desert Hills outlet using Mapquest print-out directions, we should be able to find our way with GPS & a proper map this time.

I was good, only managed 2 Junkfood tees (from FOS) and a pair of flats. Oh and more Skinfood items. Nat has a lot of stash though.  Isn’t that so true of our shopping carts nowadays?

It was the first trip up for Nat and he was all “yay!everyoneishere!let’splayball!goalgoalgoal!” from the moment he wakes till he knocks out for the day. Which, technically speaking, is what happens everyday for him anyway.

So really, for him it’s not where that matters, it’s who is with him that matters.
