When we started out at yveonloft, no storage space was not an issue. We just thought “ok, we won’t accumulate so much stuff la!”
Then Nat came along. And with that, came alot of his stuff. And of course, our stuff too (who were we kidding, really?).
We really needed storage space and the only place which can spare some space is the….kitchen. So after much thoughts (and inertia), we had JX to put our plan into action.
My little Handy Manny Nat helped out too….
Our little storage area was done by year end and we made a trip to IKEA to get the shelves (3 of them!). tehpeng fixed them all up and we started to pack in the stuff. And our store area was all stuffed pretty soon!
tehpeng :: Imagine all these were just all over the house!

Whatever happened over the weekend, stays on facebook and twitter. Just realised all the events for the weekend were somehow facebooked. Even the family BBQ.
The weekend started on the last day of 2009, with me trying to be le chef (my once a year thingy) for our NYE dinner at yveonloft with some friends.
I went for a mishmash fusion menu :: consomme of black poultry (black chicken soup!hah), mince beef and pumpkin pasta (which my helper is getting v gd at whipping up), prawns in basil pesto (much thanks to madmoneymonkey for sharing this recipe!), grilled salmon with mustard/biscuit crust, grilled veg with truffle oil( thanks to beanbean for gifting the bottle, as a bday gift!) and beef sukiyaki (which seem to be the hot seller, cos it was wiped out the quickest!). There was dessert of lychee martini cheesecake which was fabfabfab! And of course, bubbly and beer (Sapporo, no less!).
We did our usual looking back/looking forward thingy but the chief entertainer award goes out to…Nat.
He in his sexy underpants-looking shorts (gifted by babysis), doing his jiggy.
We ushered in 2010, watching UP. When the friends left, tehpeng and I stayed up for another movie – Yes Man. As you can tell, I’m making up for lost time, need to catch up on the movies available at yveonloft!
On the first day of 2010, we threw a party for the little ones to gather, for the mummies to chat and for the daddies to take photos. It was a ‘food from the hood’ potluck and on the table we had - wanton mee (tehpeng’s fav!)! chicken rice!tau huey!ribs!har-jeong kai!seafood youtiao! We even managed a Surprise! for silver_crv.:)
We all enjoyed the cocoa-powder-covered-choc-fudge delight cake. Perhaps a little bit too much, as some of us had cocoa powder traces on us…(my chin!)
And the babies blogged about the party…
We knew it was time to end the merry-making when the tots started to get cranky on us. After an afternoon nap, we headed down for my uncle’s birthday BBQ. There was more eating!
The next day, tehpeng and I headed down to IKEA with a mission, or 2. To get a cupboard to better organise my bags which were spilling out from my 1 shelving (I do not have alot of bags, I just have very little storage space). And to pick up the preloved-still-in-mint-conditioned Tods bag from squarenails. 2nd day of the year and I’ve got a bag. The year looks set to be baggy-great. Huh huh huh.
Hope your weekend is great too. I guess it’s hard to get back to work-mode, till one steps into reality called office…

The doorbell is very important in the yveon household.
Huh huh, I wonder why.
And it recently went wonky on us – it rings even when there’s no one at the door, which is irritating as much as it is freaky.
Is it another parcel?
Which makes our backup doorbell (aka kaizer) goes wonky too – he barks when the doorbell rings, regardless if there is anyone at the door.
Hiyah. Fail leh.
So we finally decided to replace it today.
Let’s hope this doesn’t go haywire. I just have to deal with the dingdong, that sounds exactly like 7-11.
It’s a store and more!
IT JUST RANG (as I was typing this entry).
Both tehpeng and myself looked at each other – Oh no!
Cos we sure aint’ expecting any parcel delivery today.
We were relieved to see someone at the door!
It was a volunteer from Red Cross for Project Rice 2009. What an ingenius way to help – a cup each from many households to make up many many kgs of rice.
I hope you get a doorbell ring from them this weekend!

Who says we can’t have Chinese winter melon soup with steak?
Well, I wanted to make wintermelon soup and tehpeng wanted steak.
Thought the cutlery setting looks funny!
We cooked (or rather I did) steak for the first time at yveonloft. We even had to makea trip out to get the skillet pan before dinner preparation.
With the help of Nomu beef rub & Worcestershire sauce & Masterfoods carmelised onion with red wine sauce, the steak was actually quite good.
If not for the fact that it was slightly too medium rare done. Haha.
Nonetheless, it was good to have some action on my part in the kitchen.

We were alerted that there was difficulty getting through to the yveon landline last week.
Ah! No wonder the silence…
This has happened before (which they took a day to rectify the problem) and so I called MrFatGreenPipe, thinking it is something amiss on their end again.
MrGreen :: Can you check if your Voice modem is switched on?
lilsnooze :: Voice modem? Erh…How does it look like? What colour is it?Black?
MrGreen :: White.
So, with him on the line, I went in search of the white voice modem around the loft, at all the possible checkpoints.
When I finally found it…
MrGreen :: Is there a green light?
Lilsnooze :: Erh…no! Is it spoilt?
Mr Green :: I think it’s not plugged in.
:/
Did I just contribute to their daily dose of nonsense calls for the day?
Lesson learnt :: Always check not-working-device is switched on/plugged in before calling customer service line.

Many have come to visit since Nat’s birth but by far, this is the biggest group at yveonloft.
Am glad Nat didn’t fuss much (he is on quite good behaviour in the mornings, after his bath) and even put on his *hiccup* performance
Well, I guess it’s a pity he didn’t add his *poop-show* ;P
Thanks for visiting, babes!
