Well, I had wanted to title it “Feeling the KOP in the air” when tehpeng suggested the above. Huh huh huh.
Anyway, so the match came and went. Guess we grossly underestimated the crowd turnout and when silver_crv picked us up, we were caught in the jam and had to anyhow park before rushing into a very crowded and red stadium. They were already singing “You’ll never walk alone”!
We went in search for somewhere to sit and I spotted an empty pocket in the midst, which was not taken. Wah, strike gold leh. Only to realise it was because there was a dead bird at the leg area, which a friendly uncle told us. Okaaaay. We (gently) kicked it under the seat and sat down.
I kinda zoned out and missed the first 2 goals. The second half was more interesting. I wasn’t falling asleep, I was just looking around and soaking in the atmosphere (and smelling the sweat in the air. urgh). Never have I ever seen so many Reds congregated in one location. They come in different shapes and sizes. Huh huh huh.
We did a few Kallang waves. For self entertainment, perhaps?
When people watch soccer, they scream and shout all sort of funny things. This uncle said :: Eh, I pay $1 a min leh. Now already $50! Hurry up action leh!
Never mind how the match turned out, the fans were just ecstatic (for lack of a more appropriate word) to be among each other, waving the banner/scarf and singing the theme song.
After the match, we were hungry and went in search of food, as with the rest of the fans which all ended up at the Old Airport Rd Hawker. In fact, this drinks-stall auntie asked tehpeng :: how come u all wear the same red colour shirt? They give it free ah?
HAHA! If only!
This is really tehpeng’s great birthday – watching Liverpool and having char kway teow, carrot cake etc for supper!
Ah well, so this is it. Feeling the team spirit in Singapore for one night. The next round could be another 7 years (the last they came was in 2001?). By then, we can bring Nat. And yes, I’ll still go along. I might not watch soccer but I don’t mind watching them “live” with tehpeng. Like what mund said, tehpeng will never watch alone.

For tehpeng’s birthday, I chose Italian. I know, it’s his birthday and he is supposed to choose but bringing him to eat the best char kway teow (which I did a few years ago, to the one at Marine Parade ) can be done on any other day.
So, Bonta it is and dinner started off well, despite being seated too closely to a table of taitais doing family dinners together.
Then the mains came and I burst out laughing. While I may like big-white-plate-small-portion-of-food, this is not enough to feed my man!
tehpeng :: Huh? Can add noodles or not?
Everything was yummilicious and it was dessert time. I told the waitress that I had pre-ordered a birthday tiramisu for my husband. Another waiter came along, whispered to tehpeng about the birthday tiramisu and walked off. HAHA, he must have thought tehpeng was planning it for me! Huh huh huh.
It’s little funny things like this that makes the dinner more memorable I guess.
I really liked how the evening turned out – we even did an impromptu visit to ION on our way home even though most of the shops are nearing closing time. He agreed with me when I commented that the place reminds me of Siam Paragon.
I know this sounds as if we are celebraing my birthday. Haha. I guess it really doesn’t matter where we eat or what we do. The match tomorrow is really the icing on the cake for him.
Perhaps next year we can be in Anfield?

Beautiful sky colours huh?
Not that I think anyone at the stadium noticed…as they are all watching the Reds.
Yes, this was taken at the training session just this evening. Thanks to @skygoon, we were able to get in.
The encounter started even before we reached the stadium. As we were at the traffic light waiting to turn into Nicoll Highway (and the stadium area), we saw 2 buses turning in front of us and IT WAS THE TEAM BUS!! That got me really excited. We spotted Torres!
Yes, I don’t watch soccer but I’m a teenybopper at heart when it comes to 明星.
Then as we turned into the carpark, we realised we were actually at the entrance which the bus will use. Of course, we waited for the bus.
We were just in time!
Tehpeng took quite a few shots during the training session but I guess this video is our closest encounter with the team.
Oh yes, tehpeng took a photo with Steve McMahon too. This is really the start of his birthday weekend.

On Saturday, right after LFC winning game against Man U, we set down to an hour of prayer, as part of the Singapore 24-365 prayer chain movement which my church participated in.Funny how our timeslot is after the game.
Before this, I was thinking – wow, an hour! How can we possibly last that long? But you know what? With the helpful list of prayer pointers, coupled with our own thanksgiving and requests, it was a little past the hour when we said “Amen” at the end of it all.
Haha, not sure how many more “long-prayer” sessions I can keep up but reading this devotion greatly encouraged and enlightened me to “pray at the moment” instead of saving it to a prayer list. For eg, instead of telling a friend- “I’ll pray for you”, I’ll strive to stop for a moment and pray for my friend. And tell my friend – “I’ve prayed for you” instead.
But at the same time, it is still important and necessary to set aside time for devotion and prayer.
I still have my fear of praying out loud and this devotion puts it right – it’s not about eloquent words, it’s not about you or how well you pray, it’s about who and what you are praying for.
I hope the devotions will encourage you too.

One can say what they want at Lo Hei, right?
As tehpeng continues on with his dream for Liverpool – “Liverpool win Premier League ah”, I opt for “Bag Bag Bag ah!” this year.
Does that mean 3 bags this year?
My eye spy this while random surfing…

My boy is just growing so fast. He’s now almost able to walk rather steadily on his own!
I am often overwhelmed and amazed as I hold onto his tiny hand (I get such a kick from saying ”Hold hands” and having him raise his hands to mine)…and he will happily walk in his jumpy pace. I mean, it really seems not too long ago that his little boy came into our lives. How fast these past 11 months fly past!
Tehpeng put together a video of our boy walking around at home (what he has been doing at home thus rendering him a very tired boy at the end of the day…) which shows that besides daddy/mummy and family, he has Kaizer walking beside him all the time.
He will truly never walk alone (of cos, pun intended!).
