I knew I was out of touch when I saw a few ladies wearing them fitflops and as I pointed them out to tehpeng, he said ‘oh, this was what lish updated about on her facebook status”.
So I went in search of them with Dada and found that fitflops didn’t quite fit my feet. Or my toes.
I’ve always had a problem looking for chic flipflops. I have no issue with Old Navy or Havianas types, but if only they come with more bling!
So I had some fun poking around, trying on blingy sandals. It must be a sign of age-ing!
Finally settled on a blingy pair and went merrily on the usual round to smell the leather. Was quite taken by the new Miumiu(in blue!), which looks really similar to the PS1. According to the sales lady, the bag is sturdy enough for laptop and document. Hmmm….
Then my toes found comfort in this pair of jellyshoes. As much a cynic as I am about jello-shoes, they are really comfy. And I was looking at the yellow pair. Nothing short of making a statement with a bright colour (other than bling!).
Certainly, it is a sign of age-ing. Or otherwise known as a maturing of taste.
(Finally something non-nat on my blog.)

Whatever happened over the weekend, stays on facebook and twitter. Just realised all the events for the weekend were somehow facebooked. Even the family BBQ.
The weekend started on the last day of 2009, with me trying to be le chef (my once a year thingy) for our NYE dinner at yveonloft with some friends.
I went for a mishmash fusion menu :: consomme of black poultry (black chicken soup!hah), mince beef and pumpkin pasta (which my helper is getting v gd at whipping up), prawns in basil pesto (much thanks to madmoneymonkey for sharing this recipe!), grilled salmon with mustard/biscuit crust, grilled veg with truffle oil( thanks to beanbean for gifting the bottle, as a bday gift!) and beef sukiyaki (which seem to be the hot seller, cos it was wiped out the quickest!). There was dessert of lychee martini cheesecake which was fabfabfab! And of course, bubbly and beer (Sapporo, no less!).
We did our usual looking back/looking forward thingy but the chief entertainer award goes out to…Nat.
He in his sexy underpants-looking shorts (gifted by babysis), doing his jiggy.
We ushered in 2010, watching UP. When the friends left, tehpeng and I stayed up for another movie – Yes Man. As you can tell, I’m making up for lost time, need to catch up on the movies available at yveonloft!
On the first day of 2010, we threw a party for the little ones to gather, for the mummies to chat and for the daddies to take photos. It was a ‘food from the hood’ potluck and on the table we had - wanton mee (tehpeng’s fav!)! chicken rice!tau huey!ribs!har-jeong kai!seafood youtiao! We even managed a Surprise! for silver_crv.:)
We all enjoyed the cocoa-powder-covered-choc-fudge delight cake. Perhaps a little bit too much, as some of us had cocoa powder traces on us…(my chin!)
And the babies blogged about the party…
We knew it was time to end the merry-making when the tots started to get cranky on us. After an afternoon nap, we headed down for my uncle’s birthday BBQ. There was more eating!
The next day, tehpeng and I headed down to IKEA with a mission, or 2. To get a cupboard to better organise my bags which were spilling out from my 1 shelving (I do not have alot of bags, I just have very little storage space). And to pick up the preloved-still-in-mint-conditioned Tods bag from squarenails. 2nd day of the year and I’ve got a bag. The year looks set to be baggy-great. Huh huh huh.
Hope your weekend is great too. I guess it’s hard to get back to work-mode, till one steps into reality called office…

I was almost pickpocketed today. At Bershka(ION).
When I heard about how someone was nearly pickpocketed in town while discussing the merits of the Neverfull (which doesn’t have a zip), it never crossed my mind that it might just happen to me.
I was carrying my big tote today and it was unzipped (definitely not something I will do again!). I was deciding on a grey turtleneck when I felt my bag move, as if someone knocked into it. I turned to look at my bag & saw this guy standing very close to me. I also saw his hand hidden underneath a piece of clothing, as if trying to reach into my bag. It kinda happened very quickly. I looked up, stared straight into his eye while reaching in to check that my wallet and mobile were still inside. He looked sheepish (to me).
If my things were missing, I would really have yelled.
Anyway, with my eyes on him, he very quickly put the piece of clothing (a ladies tanktop!!!) back onto the rack and tried to ‘pretend’ to walk around the shop before making the exit.
I was still standing shell-shocked when my mum and tehpeng came up to me. I told them what happened while still keeping my eyes on the guy. They saw him (he had a big backpack on, easy to identify!) leaving the shop. My mum said she saw him standing close to me with the piece of clothing and thought he was a sales-staff helping me.
Wow. This has never happened to me before (Thank God!).
My heart was really beating fast and honestly, I really can’t imagine what would have happened if he really did manage to take my stuff and I screamed the house down. The shop was quite crowded so he probably would not have been able to make any quick exit…
The thing about having a big tote is that the things are really messy inside and not easy for anyone (myself included!) to reach in and grab the right thing. He could probably have grabbed Nat’s diapers out. Haha!
So, zip up your bags everyone! And keep a keen eye on strangers standing too close for comfort.

And so I sent tehpeng off to Amsterdam for a work conference, with a cuppa of tehpeng at T3. It’s only a short trip of 5 days and I think this is the first away-from-us trip he’s taken since Nat’s birth.
Well, I’ve told Nat that papa will be away for 5 days – Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – to which he nodded and went right back to making sure his trains run along well (he really takes his ‘controller’ role seriously..haha). We’ll see how it goes. I know tehpeng will miss him loads.
It’s his first time away from him after all.
As for me, well, I will too but you know, we are not young lovers la, so I tell him to just email or sms me updates. And we’ll try to catch each other online, despite the 7-hour difference.
lilsnooze :: but you can call me anytime, if its about shoes or bags ok!!!
I’ve very helpfully listed down the shopping street and he’s google-earthed it. Heehee.

The other day I was just clicking around etsy, for a new pouch for the camera.
Was initially going to get this
but I thought Nat will have more fun pointing out animals on this one.
Like what a (yummy)mummy-friend says, learning takes place everywhere & anywhere. So the mummy-part of me won and it just came in the mail!

You know you’ve shopped online too often when you stare at shoes and bags on display and you wish you can click “Sort by”.
lilsnooze :: What colours do you have for size 5 in this style?
Sales lady :: What colour do you want?
lilsnooze :: Erm…I’ll choose from the colours you have in my size…
Less you think Im a diffcult customer, it was a sale and there aren’t many shoes in my size left.
tehpeng :: What other bags do you have that are 55% off?
Sales lady :: Erm…the bags are all over.
He decided to ask when I was picking up every bag wanting to find one that was a good deal and I don’t quite mind. I mean, it’s 55% off!

I’ve been thinking of this bag for a while, on and off.
So when it went on sale and the site actually acknowledged my details (I tried to get the envelope clutch few months back during the sale and I wasn’t able to, due to “unrecognised address”), it’s 天时地利人和!
I had to get it.
It just arrived.
Aaaaaaah, the smell of leather. It gets me going.
And Nat loses no time in checking out the bag…here he is digging out the balls he put in.
