Him behind the lens

Tehpeng is running into an issue faced by many parents …the lack of virtual storage space for the gazillion pictures we have. Mostly of our little one.

Hands up if you have difficulty finding pictures of yourself and your partner among them.

This was taken by Nat, when he took control of my cam for the first time (nowadays, our gadgets are no longer only ours…).

Daddy & mummy!

And another one of mummy!
Cheese!
Not bad huh. There were also a couple of random (arty) shots of bread and teh. Hahaha.
Maybe we can have more couple shots now!

  • Weekend mummy

It’s increasingly hard to get into work mode on Monday morning (say only la, once I step into office, it’s full-on work and juggling to-do lists!) when we spend 2 full days with Nat, having fun together. And he knows it too – weekend is mummy and daddy time! He never ever sleeps during the weekend, preferring to play play play with us.

The weekend that passed, we did a few things which typically weren’t in our programme.

We started the weekend with a beach boys & a girl date at Sentosa. The tots had fun with the sand and at the waterplay area. Well, I never thought I would let my son play in a public water area (the logistics of cleaning up and all deters me)..but oh well, being a parent changes things. I even went in as well. Heh.

Then, tehpeng and I attended the High Scorers concert , in support of our church friend who was performing  the flute. I was wowed by the young talented ones on their musical instruments, playing their exam pieces. Again, I felt the pang of not being able to play any musical instrument. I suppose we must let Nat start young on this musical journey.

On Sunday, we went to the National Museum, for the Mummy exhibition.

Thankfully, there’s 50% off with Mastercard payment.

The exhibit area was kinda dark but that didn’t stop Nat from exploring on his own (such a big boy!). Here he is, posing for mummy (me) with the ‘mummy’.

It was a good weekend and it didn’t involve any retail-element. Part of my ‘bring nat out,  try to avoid shopping centre’ plan which I just hatched up. Heh heh.

    Keeping store

When we started out at yveonloft, no storage space was not an issue. We just thought “ok, we won’t accumulate so much stuff la!”

Then Nat came along. And with that, came alot of his stuff. And of course, our stuff too (who were we kidding, really?).

We really needed storage space and the only place which can spare some space is the….kitchen. So after much thoughts (and inertia), we had JX to put our plan into action.

My little Handy Manny Nat helped out too….

Our little storage area was done by year end and we made a trip to IKEA to get the shelves (3 of them!). tehpeng fixed them all up and we started to pack in the stuff. And our store area was all stuffed pretty soon!

  • Nat came to work with me on Christmas eve. While I was trying to tie up some work-stuff, he was duly occupied.

He watched Cars for the nth time (my colleague brought the dvd to entertain him and was instantly Nat’s good friend!). He played with Lego bricks.

He even drew up plans for the department…Well, he did meet my big big boss who promptly ‘recruited’ him as the newest & youngest member of the team..Haha. No problem, mam, just deposit his pay into my bank account please. Thank you. ;)

And he also checked out new apps on my colleague’s iphone (who was amazed at how quickly he picked up the game-play). Yes, anyone with an iphone will be an instant hit with my son now.

He must be thinking “It’s so fun at work, no wonder mummy goes everyday!”.

If only, baby. If only.  :)

  • And here we are, 2010

Whatever happened over the weekend, stays on facebook and twitter. Just realised all the events for the weekend were somehow facebooked. Even the family BBQ.

The weekend started on the last day of 2009, with me trying to be le chef (my once a year thingy) for our NYE dinner at yveonloft with some friends.

I went for a mishmash fusion menu :: consomme of black poultry (black chicken soup!hah), mince beef and pumpkin pasta (which my helper is getting v gd at whipping up), prawns in basil pesto (much thanks to madmoneymonkey for sharing this recipe!), grilled salmon with mustard/biscuit crust, grilled veg with truffle oil( thanks to beanbean for gifting the bottle, as a bday gift!) and beef sukiyaki (which seem to be the hot seller, cos it was wiped out the quickest!). There was dessert of lychee martini cheesecake which was fabfabfab! And of course, bubbly and beer (Sapporo, no less!).

We did our usual looking back/looking forward thingy but the chief entertainer award goes out to…Nat.

He in his sexy underpants-looking shorts (gifted by babysis), doing his jiggy.

We ushered in 2010, watching UP. When the friends left, tehpeng and I stayed up for another movie – Yes Man. As you can tell, I’m making up for lost time, need to catch up on the movies available at yveonloft!

On the first day of 2010, we threw a party for the little ones to gather, for the mummies to chat and for the daddies to take photos. It was a ‘food from the hood’ potluck and on the table we had -  wanton mee (tehpeng’s fav!)! chicken rice!tau huey!ribs!har-jeong kai!seafood youtiao! We even managed a Surprise! for silver_crv.:)

We all enjoyed the cocoa-powder-covered-choc-fudge delight cake. Perhaps a little bit too much, as some of us had cocoa powder traces on us…(my chin!)

And the babies blogged about the party…

We knew it was time to end the merry-making when the tots started to get cranky on us. After an afternoon nap, we headed down for my uncle’s birthday BBQ. There was more eating!

The next day, tehpeng and I headed down to IKEA with a mission, or 2. To get a cupboard to better organise my bags which were spilling out from my 1 shelving (I do not have alot of bags, I just have very little storage space). And to pick up the preloved-still-in-mint-conditioned Tods bag from squarenails. 2nd day of the year and I’ve got a bag. The year looks set to be baggy-great. Huh huh huh.

Hope your weekend is great too. I guess it’s hard to get back to work-mode, till one steps into reality called office…

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. ~ John 14:12

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.Honour your father and mother— which is the first commandment with a promise— that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. ~ Ephesians 6:1-4
